If you own a residential property and would like to let it out to an individual or family, the team at Redmond & Associates can help. We can assess the suitability for your property to go onto the rental market and advise on any changes or details you will need to implement.
- It is important to have a written tenancy agreement in place before a tenant moves in. Informal agreements are difficult to enforce and can cause a lot of problems in the long run.
- Since 6th April 2007, it has been a legal requirement for all private landlords to hold a tenant’s deposit in a tenancy deposit protection scheme.
- Unless stipulated, as the landlord, you are responsible for undertaking major repairs and any structural work that needs completing.
- Safety checks for any gas installations and appliances supplied inside the property must be arranged by the landlord at least once a year.
We also recommend compiling an inventory of items that are in the property before letting it.
